Nicolle Thomas has started seven of the Auburn University women’s basketball team’s nine games this season and in one scored the most by a Tiger freshman in at least 10 years.
The former Lady Packer is averaging 11.3 a game and has helped Auburn off to a 6-3 start.
Against Florida State in Tallahassee on Nov. 27, she scored 27 points, the most by any Tiger so far this season.
She also is leading Auburn in free throw percentage.
Auburn is off until Dec. 15 when it plays host to Liberty.

n Former Moultrie High football player Doug Hall died Sunday.
Hall was the quarterback on the 1963 Packers team that played for the state championship against Avondale, losing 40-0.
Hall completed 55-of-104 passes for 637 yards and eight touchdowns that season.
In one of his best games, he threw two touchdown passes to lead a come-from-behind victory over Cairo. He also threw for one touchdown and ran for another in a 14-14 tie with Willingham.

n Hannah Moore took first place on both the 1-meter an 3-meter springboards to help lead the Georgia women’s swimming and diving team to a first-place finish in the UGA Fall Invitational that concluded Saturday at the Gabrielsen Natatorium.
In winning on the 3-meter board, Moore scored a 356.75, breaking her own school and Gabrielsen Natatorium records.
“Anytime you break a school recor, it’s special,” said Georgia diving coach Dan Laak. “Hannah has been working extremely hard and it’s good to see her hard work pay off.
“She’s a real leader for our team.”
Moore also won on 1-meter with a 297.45. She was fifth in the platform event.
Owen Blank was third on 1-meter and fourth on 3-meter for the Georgia men’s team, which also finished first.
Auburn’s Anna Aguero was second to Moore, her former Moss Farms and Colquitt County teammate, on 3-meter with a 327.45. She had a 283.40 in the prelims.
