MOULTRIE — Colquitt County will send two high school teams and two middle school teams to compete in the Second Annual USTA Georgia Schools Tournament that will begin on Nov. 21.
The high school boys team will go to the John Drew Smith Tennis Center in Macon on on Nov. 21-22 for regional competition.
The regional includes seven teams, with the top three advancing to the state tournament, which will be held Dec. 5-6, also in Macon.
The high school girls team has no regional competition and will go straight to the Dec. 5-6 state tournament in Macon.
The middle school boys and girls also have no regional competition and will advance to the state tournament, which will be held in conjuction with the high school boys region in Macon on Nov. 21-22.
Seven players will be needed to field each match and no player is allowed to play both singles and doubles. Competition includes three singles and two doubles.
Individual players earn USTA Georgia points for each win.
The Colquitt County high school team includes Hannah Radney, Aislin Sheffield, Haley Cash, Heather Hardy, Eric Mobley, Catie Statom, Constance Terrell, David Forehand, Brandon Oaks, Ricky Patel, Paul Leonard, Andrew Harvin, Jacob Tompkins, Philip Long, Bo Blalock, Blake Jenkins, John Barber, Rachel Funderburk and Ansley Moore.
The middle school team includes Tana Knight, John Buck Eunice, Nick Nichols, Conley Ward, Nic Mobley, Desiree Cash, Anna Barber, Camille Kirkland, Taylor Mock, Courtney Terrell, Avery Barber, Haley Trebony, Nicholas Cordista, Matthew Long and Micah Edwards.
The coaches are Ed Statom and Chip Blalock.

Paradise Pool and Patio completed an undefeated season by beating Southwest Georgia Bank 13-6 on Thursday to win the Moultrie-Colquitt County Parks and Recreation Department’s Farm League tournament championship.

Harrell Auto Electric rallies to claim Mite girls championship
Trailing 4-0 when weather stopped its game against M&M Diesel on Tuesday and down 5-0 after three innings on Thursday, Harrell Auto Electric rallied to score nine runs in the final three innings to win 9-6 and claim the Moultrie-Colquitt County Parks and Recreation Department’s Mite League girls softball championship.

Softball resumes
With longtime umpire James Stancil looking on, M&M Diesel first baseman Sarah Harrell awaits a throw in a recent game. M&M Diesel was leading Harrell Auto Elecric 4-0 in the third inning on Tuesday at the Jim Buck Goff Recreation Complex when the game was suspended by a bad weather. The game will be completed today. If M&M Diesel defeats Harrell Auto Electric and also wins over Park Regency in a second game tonight, it will win the Mite League championship.
