MOULTRIE — Tennessee’s Ryan Helms has been named the Southeastern Conference’s Diver of the Week for the third straight week.
After posting his season-high on the 1-meter against Louisville, Helms scored a 346.80 in the Vols’ win over Kentucky and is now ranked third in the conference on the 1-meter.
He also scored a collegiate-meet high 418.58 on 3-meter in the victory over Kentucky.
That score currently leads the conference.
The former Moss Farms diver and last year’s SEC Freshman Diver of th Year, is now 6-0 on the season.

n The Vanderbilt women’s golf team wrapped up its fall season by finishing third in the Stanford Intercollegiate.
The Commodores got a 73 from Anna Leigh Keith, the freshman from Colquitt County, in the final round. Keith finished with a 76-74-73 for a 223, good for a tie for 41st.
Vanderbilt will open the spring 2010 portion of its schedule on March 1-2 when it travels to Valdosta for the Kinderlou Forest Challenge.
n University of Georgia freshman baseball player Chance Veazey, who suffered a serious spinal injury in motor scooter accident in Athens last week, has been moved to the Shepherd Center in Atlanta after undergoing surgery last Friday.
Veazey played baseball at Tift County High School and was in contention for a starting position at second base.
He is the son of Todd and Darby Veazey.
n The Dixie Region Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) will host a solo autocross driving event at Spence Field on Sunday.
Registration and vehicle technical inspection will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
Drivers meeting and official timed runs begin around 10 a.m.
The event will run until the last car finishes, typically mid- to late-afternoon.
Driver entries are open to the public.
Driver entrants pay a $30 registration for SCCA club members, $40 for non-SCCA club members, and $37 for non-SCCA member students.
Must be a licensed driver, provide own car and pass a short safety vehicle technical inspection.Loaner helmets are available.
The fees charged covers to cost of the site rental and national SCCA club sanctioning fees.

n Former Colquitt County High, Darton College and Valdosta State golfer Jason Flowers has completed the first stage of the PGA’s qualifying school.
The second qualifying stage will be held Nov. 18-21.
The final stage will be held Dec. 2-7.
Flowers is currently living in Albany.
