7th-, 8th-grade basketball opens today


MOULTRIE — The Colquitt County seventh- and eighth-grade basketball teams will open their seasons today with games against Hahira.

The seventh-graders will play home games beginning at 4:30 p.m. at the C.A. Gray Junior High gymnasium.

The seventh-grade team is expected to play the rest of its home games at the Willie J. Williams Middle School gymnasium.

The eighth-graders will open their season today at Hahira.

They will play their first home game at 4:30 p.m. Friday against Coffee.

The seventh-grade girls team is coached by Jon Scroggins.

His seventh-graders are Rachel Bostic, Felisha Bowman, Shabreka Crawford, Josephine Fowler, Joneria Grant, Ta’Kiya Henry, Myla Kinsey, Mercedez Lewis, Britni Marshall, Aureyuanna Rushing, Chazmin Singletary and Sade Walker.

The team’s sixth-graders are Yasmine French, Jac’quala Hardy, Tikasha Hill, Ta’nia Johnson, Ariel Polland, Mariah Smith and Ta’Kerria Waters.

The boys team, coached by John Phillips, includes seventh-graders Rakeem McCloud, Zatavious Lewis, Shiem King, Marquan Greene, Jalane Robinson, Javonta Woods, Savanota Slaughter, Dethemeyus Barge, Donta Wilson, Taif Smith, Micah Edwards, Dykerrion Smith, Cody Nicholas and Marcus Lewis.

The team’s sixth-graders are Chris Bouie, Keil Pollard, Drew Davis, Nathan Lang and Deodrick Thompson.

The eighth-grade Lady Packers, coached by Tiffanie Young, include Allyson Alvis, Meagan Smith, Abbi Beth Paulk, Blakelee Handfield, Jazlynn Collier, Kara Menix, Dexshalyn Polite, Makeba Ponder, Tianna Ponder, Tara Reynolds, Shawna Slingsby, Jacquelyn Walton, Zandesha Moment, Tamera Edwards, T’Keyah Owens and Ashlee Parrish.

The manager is Alicia Marquez.

The eighth-grade boys are being coached by Roger Jones.

His roster includes Sebastian Courtney, Robert Lingo, Oshay Williams, Maleek Lewis, Cmabrick Taylor, Janarrian Lewis, Ethan Anderson, Kevi Simpson, Leavohn Lewis, Taphari Wright, Austin Vines, Anthony Dunwoody, Kenji Thompson, Jay Tolbert, Brandon Key, Parker Hoes, Jaymius Pittman and Quan Patillo.
