     Dairy Queen clinched the Junior girls softball championship on Tuesday, defeating Pretty Poison II 6-1.

    Quality Employment needed a win or a tie in its game against Southwest Georgia Insurance on Tuesday to claim the Midget League championship.
    Quality won the title when the game ended in a 5-5 tie.

  • Goodman eighth at World Championship Trials

    Florida State rising senior Kelsey Goodman placed eighth in the finals of the women’s 1-meter springboard with a total of 476.00 after 10 dives at the USA Diving World Championship Trials at the Morcom Aquatics Center.

  • CROSSFIRE.jpg Tournament champions

    The Colquitt County Crossfire won the first tournament they played in this season when they took first place last weekend in Douglas. Crossfire opened with a 4-2 win ove the Middle Georgia Hurricanes in the play-in game. They then won 9-8 over the Diamond Girls; 14-2 over the Hurricanes again; and then 13-3 in the championship game over the Hurricanes. The team includes Amber Brown, Madison Plymel, batgirl Libby Wetherington, Jacey Wetherington; Emily Allegood, KaLise Richardson, Katlynn Powers, Julia Duncan, Ava Dickens, Gracie Paulk, Elle Perryman, Allie Boatwright and coaches Heath Wetherington, Craig Perryman and Jeremy Dickens.

    That task is coming along slowly, Packers coach Rush Prospt said on Wednesday.

  • Recreation baseball tournaments to open Monday

    The Moultrie-Colquitt County Parks and Recreation Department will hold its postseason Midget League and Farm League tournaments next week at the Magnolia Sports Complex.

  • Parkview knocks Packers from playoffs

     Parkview hit six home runs — including a grand slam — and took advantage of some shaky Colquitt County defense to beat the Packers 16-11 and 7-3 on Tuesday to advance to the Class AAAAAA Final Four.
