MOULTRIE — The Colquitt County middle school tennis teams swept Coffee at Davis Park in Douglas on Thursday and are now preparing to play three matches next week.
The 5-0 victories over Coffee raises the record of both the girls and boys teams to 4-0.
The middle school girls found themselves challenged at the South Georgia College courts, but never flinched.
Conley Ward at No. 1 singles won over Lee Williams 8-3.
At No. 2 singles, Courtney Terrell won over Catherine Evans. And at No 3, Anna Barber defeated Haley Vaughn.
Haley Trebony and Camille Kirkland won at No. 1 doubles over Cori Henris and Lane Preston, 8-3.
And Desiree Cash and Rachel Bostick defeated Coffee’s BB Brooker and Hannah Greene at No. 2 doubles 8-5.
In an extra match, Taylor and Tanna Knight defeated Savannah Leslie and Amanda Thomas 6-5.
The Colquitt County boys won at No. 1 singles when Nick Mobley defeated Brandon Wiggins 8-2. At No. 2 singles, Nick Nichols defeated Kodi Warren 8-1.
At No. 3 singles, Jay Tolbert defeated Drew Hattaway 8-2.
The Colquitt County No. 1 doubles team of Nick Cordista and Cody Jenkins won over Zane Dixon and Nick Duncan 8-1.
At No. 2 doubles, John Buck Eunice and Donovan Price won over Drew White and Tyler Comer 8-1.
Colquitt County also won all three extra doubles matches.
Cory Glow and Andy Aleksiechuk won over John Tabier and Sam Boatwright 6-0; Lance Shealy and Ashton Owens defeated Ron Skimmer and Harrison Steptoe 8-2; and Michah Edwards and Cody Jenkins defeated Nick Freeman and Sam Boatwright 6-0.
Rainouts forced the middle school teams to schedule three matches next week.
Colquitt County will meet Valdosta at 3:45 p.m Monday at the Lynda Moseley Tennis Complex.
The middle school Lady Packers and Packers will be at home again on Tuesday to play host to Bainbridge.
On Thursday, Colquitt will travel to Lowndes for a match that was rained out on March 2.
Colquitt was originally scheduled to play Baconton at home next Thursday, but elected to reschedule the South Georgia Athletic Conference match with Lowndes for that day.
It has not been decided if the non-conference match with Baconton will be made up.
