Helms second on both boards

MOULTRIE — University of Tennessee freshman Ryan Helms finished second on both the 1-meter and 3-meter springboards at the Tennessee Diving Invitational, which concluded Monday in Knoxville.

Georgia’s Hannah Moore was third on 3-meter, fifth on 1-meter and seventh on platform in the meet.

Auburn’s Anna Aguero turned in 10th-place finishes in both the 1-meter and platform events.

All three are former Moss Farms divers, as is Georgia’s Owen Blank, who did not reach the finals on either springboard and finished 17th on platform.

Helms was runner-up on both springboards to Alabama All-American Aaron Fleshner.

On 3-meter, Helms turned in a 399.00, to finish just 6.75 points behind Fleshner.

Helms also was 10th on platform. The event was won by Auburn’s Kelly Marx.

Moore’s best finish came on 3-meter on Saturday, when she scored a 312.00. Her 265.20 was good for fifth on 1-meter, an event won by Kara Salamone of Florida.

On Monday, Moore scored a 223.45 to finish sevent on platform. The even was won by Monica Dodson of Florida with a 309.20.
