Packer Invitational swim meet opens today

MOULTRIE — Nine South Georgia high school swimming teams will hit the water at the Albany State University pool today in the fourth annual Packer Invitational, hosted by Colquitt County High.

Teams from Colquitt County, Lee County, Tift County, Americus-Sumter county, Bainbridge, Ware County, Ware Magnet and Albany High are expected to take part in the Georgia High School Association-sanctioned meet, which will begin at 10:30 a.m.

Colquitt County will have 46 individual and 20 relay entries. Expected to compete for Colquitt County are:

Landon Bass, freshman, 50 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 200 medley relay and 400 freestyle relay.

Andrew Carlton, freshman, 50 free, 100 free, 200 medley relay, 200 free relay.

Jacob Cobb, senior, 50 free, 100 free, 200 medley relay, 400 free relay.

Clark Coleman, senior, 50 free, 100 back, 200 medley relay, 200 free relay.

Becky Collier, 200 free relay.

Wes Cox, freshman, 50 free, 100 free, 200 medley relay, 200 free relay.

Kara Dobbs, junior, 50 free, 100 breast, 200 medley relay, 400 free relay.

Jesi Faulkner, senior, 200 free relay.

Mitchel Hawes, freshman, 50 free, 100 free, 200 medley relay.

Sara Jenkins, junior, 50 free, 100 free, 200 medley relay, 400 free relay.

     Travis Register will take an unbeaten record into next weekend’s state sectional after going 2-0 and winning the 220-pound weight class at Saturday’s Region 1-AAAAA wrestling tournament at Lowndes.
