Edwards gets first Pony victory

MOULTRIE — Edwards Motors notched its first victory of the Pony League baseball season on Thursday, edging Clements Pools 9-8 at the Magnolia Complex.

Garrett Pearce was the winning pitcher and Cameron Matthews had two hits for Edwards Motors, now 1-11.

Roy Fuentes had a home run and Jim Harrison chipped in a pair of hits for Clements Pools, now 2-10.

VFW won Thursday’s other Pony League game, defeating Ameris 8-4.

Corey Moore was the winning pitcher and Jimmy Skeen and Drew Marchant each had two hits for VFW, which raised its record to 8-4.

Alex Littleton went 3-for-3 for Ameris, now 7-5.

John Gray had a big night in leading Harper-McCall to a 10-3 victory over Ameris on Thursday in Midget League action.

Gray was the winning pitcher and cracked two home runs among his three hits.

Jonah Bozeman had two hits, including a home run, and Bubba Flinchum also homered for Harper-McCall, which raised its record to 10-1-1.

Davis Insurance blanked Market Barbecue 8-0 in Thursday’s other Midget League game.

Ryan Chatman was the winning pitcher for Davis Insurance, now 5-7.

In Farm League action on Thursday, Wendy’s defeated Random Design 14-11.

Savonta Slaughter had four hits; Robert Clark and Jaquon Blakely each had three; and Bobby Edwards and Chaz Smith each had two for Wendy’s, now 4-7-1.

Demetrius Walker had three hits and Arden Hall, Devin Flinchum and Colby Camp each had two for Random Design, now 7-4.

In Thursday night’s other Farm League game, McAlpin Signs rolled past Farm Bureau 11-1.

Geoffrey Zeigler, Noah Moore, Austin Singletary, Cody Mullis and Griffin Rigsby each had two hits for McAlpin Signs, which raised its record to 8-3.

In Tiny Mites action on Thursday, Quality Employment defeated Holman Supply 19-5 and Southwest Georgia Bank and Mattco battled to a 12-12 tie.
