MOULTRIE — For the first time, the schools that make up Region 1-AAAAA have decided to award a pair of $500 scholarship to deserving student-athletes and Colquitt County High golfer Josh Dale is one of the recipients.

The award was presented to Dale, a member of Colquitt County’s state championship golf team, at the school’s Honors Night on Tuesday.

The other recipient is Leah Taylor, who played softball and tennis at Lowndes High.

Both are outstanding students as well as being contributing members of their school’s athletic teams.

Dale has a 95.3 grade average and ranks 15th in the Class of 2006, which will graduate next week.

He is a member of Skills USA, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the National Honor Society and has received the Georgia Certificate of Merit.

She has a grade average of 94.968 and is ranked 26 in the Lowndes High graduating class of 545.
