Since the start of the 2010 season, the Colquitt County High football team has produced a 26-12 record, reaching the state championship game two years ago and the state semifinals last year.
The senior football players who have been such a part of that successful run will be honored, along with two trainers, before Friday’s 7:30 p.m. game against Camden County.
Senior band members and cheerleaders also will be recognized before the game.
The senior football players are kicker Will Bannister, defensive end Ikeem Blakely, running back John Boatwright, offensive lineman Jeffery Davis, offensive lineman Dalton Dillon, receiver Dillon Frazier, linebacker John Gray, runnin back Qwen Grier, defensive end Creig Harris, wide receiver Bobby Hill, linebacker Samuel Holloway, offensive tackle Octavius Jackson, defensive back Carlos Johnson, receiver Deonte Johnson snapper Britt Jones, defensiveend Jeffery Lawson, defensive lineman Anthony Lewis, tight end Nate Madison, safety Garrett Pearce, defensive back John Peterson, defensive back Jamal Phillips, offensive/defensive lineman Travis Register, quarterback Cole Segraves, receiver Kishaun Taylor, defensive lineman Latraveur Turner, linebacker Latrikeus Turner, kicker Roberto Vega, defensive back Johnny Ward, offensive lineman Seth Weeks, snapper John Mark Williams and punter Tyler Yost. The trainers are Anna Fisher and Jose Santos.
Many of the seniors will have key roles to play when the Packers play host to the 9-0 and top-ranked Wildcats on Friday.
Bannister is 27-for-28 in extra point attempts; Blakely has 49 tackles and was the Defensive Player of the Week against Coffee; Boat-wright leads the Packers with nine touchdowns; Davis has started at both guard and center, as has Dillon; Gray leads the Packers with 91 tackles.
Harris has been a starter at defensive end; Hill, who has committed to Ole Miss, leads the Packers with 52 pass receptions for 804 yards and five touchdowns; Jackson, who has committed to Florida, has started the last two season at offensive left tackle.
Deonte Johnson has four catches this season and had eight last year, including one for a touchdown; Jones has been a fixture at snapper, getting the ball back on target for extra point and field goal attempts and for punts; Lawson has 15 tackles; Madison has one catch this season and it was for a touchdown; Pearce has been a sure tackler in the secondary;
Peterson has the Packers longest kickoff return this season, a 51-yarder; Phillips is the Packers third-leading tackler; Register has started at both offensive guard, defensive tackle and defensive end and is one of team’s most versatile players;
Segraves led the Packers in passing as a junior, hitting 160-of-268 for 2,115 yards and 17 touchdowns, and is 88-for-157 for 1,202 yards and seven touchdowns this season; Taylor has nine pass receptions this year; Vega has hit 6-of-8 field goals;
Ward, who has committed to South Florida, has an interception, 49 tackles and several blocked kicks; and Yost, the Packers’ punter the last two years, is averaging 37.9 yards on 34 punts this season.
PACKERS NOTES: Despite three losses, Colquitt County is ranked No. 10 in Class AAAAAA by the Georgia High School Football Daily. ... Lovett, which is 5-4, is ranked No. 10 in Class AA. ... The Packers are minus-6 in the turnover ratio this season. Colquitt has lost eight fumbles and thrown 13 interceptions. The Packers opponents have lost 11 fumbles and thrown four interceptions.
Colquitt was plus-13 in turnovers last season.

State champion flag football team
Colquitt County won the gold medal in the Senior/Master Traditional Flag Football competition at the recent 2013 Special Olympics Georgia State Summer Games last weekend. Colquitt County defeated Gwinnett County 26-0 in the opening round and defeated Gwinnett again in the championship game 24-0. 8 Packers named All-Region in baseball

Arkansas State sophomore center Bryce Giddens is one of 44 players across the country who have been named to the 2013 Rimington Trophy’s spring watch list, announced Tuesday by the Rimington Trophy committee.

Dawson resigns as Colquitt County athletic director
Darius Dawson, who has served as Colquitt County’s athletic director since 2006, has resigned to take a job as assistant principal at Charlie A. Gray Middle School.

The South Georgia Youth Shooting Club overcame chilly and wet conditions to take two first-place and two third-place finishes at the Georgia State Trap Shooting championships held May 4 at the South River Gun Club in Covington.

Packers finish tied for fourth in state golf tournament
When Colquitt County won the Blue Devil Invitational at Spring Hill Country Club in Tifton on April 8, the Packers did so with a round of 294, their best score of the season.

Tournaments open
Levi Stanfill helped lead Liberty Tax into the Farm League baseball tournament that opened on Monday at the Magnolia Sports Complex. Tournament play in both the Farm League and Midget League will continue tonight with the championship games set for 6 p.m. Thursday. In Monday’s Midget League games, Davis Insurance defeated Mobley Plant 9-3; Quality Employment downed Hutchinson Traylor 13-5 and Southwest Georgia Insurance eliminated Ameris 20-4. In Farm League games on Monday, Farm Bureau defeated Lazarus, 17-6; Ameris won over Southwest Georgia Bank 13-2; Liberty Tax defeated Rocky’s 8-2; and Davis Insurance won over Paradise Pool and Patio 17-2. Davis Insurance, Hutson Motors win boys baseball championships
Davis Insurance edged Liberty Tax 13-12 on Thursday at the Magnolia Sports Complex and claimed the Farm League baseball championship.
Hutson Motors won the Tiny Mites championship after defeating Holman Supply 15-0 to finish its season undefeated.
