MOULTRIE —
The Colquitt County wrestling team made quick work of Monroe on Tuesday at the Pineland gymnasium, defeating the Tornadoes 43-6.
The Packers will be back in action on Friday when they play host to Westover and Berrien at 5 p.m., also at the Pineland gymnasium.
The victory over Monroe raised the Packers record to 17-11 in dual meets.
The Packers continue to prepare for the Region 1-AAAAA meet, which will be held Feb. 4 at Lowndes.
Colquitt got six points on a pin from Donovan Bynum, wrestling at 126 pounds.
Landon Rehberg followed with a default victory at 132.
Blake Powell also got a victory via a pin at 160.
Jazavier Jackson won on a 13-3 major decision at 170 pounds.
At 182, Javier Martinez won by forfeit.
Quintin Hampton wrested at 195 and won by an 8-1 decision.
Travis Register remains undefeated at 12-0 after his ninth pin of the season at 220 pounds.
Bryce Giddens, at 285, also is still undefeated. His pin was his fourth of the season and raised his record to 5-0.
The Packers will travel to Tifton on Saturday for the Blue Devil Invitational and will go to Thomas County Central next Tuesday to tangle with Thomas County Central, Lowndes and Lawton Chiles.
The final competition before the region meet will be on Saturday, Jan. 28, when the Packers participate in the Cairo Syrumaker Invitational.

Harrell Auto Electric rallies to claim Mite girls championship
Trailing 4-0 when weather stopped its game against M&M Diesel on Tuesday and down 5-0 after three innings on Thursday, Harrell Auto Electric rallied to score nine runs in the final three innings to win 9-6 and claim the Moultrie-Colquitt County Parks and Recreation Department’s Mite League girls softball championship.

Softball resumes
With longtime umpire James Stancil looking on, M&M Diesel first baseman Sarah Harrell awaits a throw in a recent game. M&M Diesel was leading Harrell Auto Elecric 4-0 in the third inning on Tuesday at the Jim Buck Goff Recreation Complex when the game was suspended by a bad weather. The game will be completed today. If M&M Diesel defeats Harrell Auto Electric and also wins over Park Regency in a second game tonight, it will win the Mite League championship.

Four more members of the 2011 Colquitt County High football team have signed to continue their careers and number of the 2012 Packers are already receiving college offers.
