MOULTRIE —
The Colquitt County eighth-grade baseball team got outstanding pitching from Trey Clark and played solid defense to defeat Lowndes Middle School 13-2 on Monday at Lowndes.
The victory evens the team’s record at 7-7 with two games remaining before the conference tournament.
Clark relieved starter Kodi Bishop in the second inning and went the final 3 2/3 innings, giving up no runs or hits. He walked five and struck out four.
The Packers allowed 11 walks and hit a batter, but were able to pitch around them.
Colquitt turned a 4-6-3 double play to end the game.
Beau Dalton had two doubles and Javan Parten had a pair of singles to lead the Packers.
Bishop, Kevin Hall, Austin Craven, Gabe Parker and Kevin Snyder also had base hits.
The victory was the second in a row for the eighth-grade Packers.
The Colquitt seventh-grade team will play host to Lowndes at 4 p.m. today and Tift County at 4 p.m. on Wednesday.

Quality Employment, Liberty Tax win tournament titles
Quality Employment added the Midget League tournament championship to its regular-season title on Thursday, defeating Davis Insurance 10-0 in five innings at the Magnolia Sports Complex.
And Liberty Tax scored seven runs in its final two at bats to take the Farm League tournament championship with an 8-4 win over Ameris. -

11 Colquitt County players named All-Region in soccer
Six members of the Colquitt County boys soccer team and five from the girls team have been included on the All-Region 1-AAAAAA team selected by the league’s coaches.

YMCA flag football champions
R.B. Wright Team 2 defeated Odom in championship game to win the Moultrie YMCA’s Elementary School Sports League flag football title. State champion flag football team
Colquitt County won the gold medal in the Senior/Master Traditional Flag Football competition at the recent 2013 Special Olympics Georgia State Summer Games last weekend. Colquitt County defeated Gwinnett County 26-0 in the opening round and defeated Gwinnett again in the championship game 24-0.
