Rant and Rave for 02/09/13

MOULTRIE — Voting booth

“We have term limits. It’s called the voting booth. Perhpas we should form organizations to limit our lawmakers to two terms by vote. That would put the onus where it should be... on the public. The idea that our lawmakers will impose term limits on themselves when they have such great benefits is totally absurd."

Postal Service

“The U.S. Postal Service has served us well for many years. Times, however, change. And that change has brought us FedX, United Parcel, email, etc. It makes sense that the Postal Service will cut days to meet deficits."

The drone issue

“I would much rather my government send a drone to blow up a terrorist outfit than to send my son in to possibly die or come home paralyzed and have to fight for benefits for the rest of his life."

Bad patients

“You know, there are such things as bad patients. They are hard to deal with and no matter what hospital they go to, they will complain. Most likely they have complained about something all their lives."

Me too

“I, too, have seen some of the horrendous videos that you are talking about and I do believe that a child who grows up in that culture, watching such violence, stands a good chance of emulating that type of behavior later. Some of the videos I’ve seen also have a subtle theme that can instill hatred in children ... something that can manifest itself tragically in later years."

The way I feel

“I thought I would never say something like this, but I’m glad that person who kidnapped that little boy and held him in that bunker away from his loved ones for all those many days did not make it out alive. God forgive me, but that’s just the way I feel about it."

Ulterior motive

“The idea of using drones to take out terrorists seems to be a good policy, but what's wrong with this picture? Why does this one thing seem to be good when all of Obama's other policies for the past 4 years failed? Maybe Obama does plan to continue using the drones on terrorists, or maybe he has other plans; use them internally on the American people during a crisis.

"I somehow sense the connection between this and Obamacare. Hopefully, I'm exaggerating."

Politicians

“Politicians should have to wear uniforms like NASCAR drivers so we could see who their sponsors are."

Due process?

“It's not about the drones being used to kill American Citizens as much as the President (be it this one or the next one) having the authority to kill without due process and without any form of oversight."
