Rant and Rave for 02/05/13

MOULTRIE — Cleared that up

“You say that Obama’s amnesty plan is all about getting votes. I guess you are implying that Republicans wouldn’t dare play politics. All of this time I wondered about that. Now you’ve cleared it up for me."

An accounting

“Every year we go through this thing about kids selling stuff for their schools. It should be clarified and documented what these funds are used for. Are school taxes not adequate for these children that they have to set up some kind of curb market concept to help finance operations? It’s time the books were opened on all of these projects. Maybe the school board can address this."

Applause

“Katie Truluck and her Bishop Moore High School Girls Volleyball Team in Orlando Florida was Awarded 2013 National Champions by MaxPrep.

"She is the Granddaughter of Wesley and Rose Truluck natives of Moultrie. Her parents Mark and Barbara Truluck still live in Orlando. Katie will play volleyball at Washington and Lee University in Virginia this fall."

Choices

“How could anyone not choose to have a choice in how to educate the children of Colquitt County?

"A choice for the magnet program allows for parents to have a choice--magnet OR school-within-a-school!"

Bit of advice

“Here’s some advice for all restaurants that have drive-through service. Please teach your employees to speak plainly and more slowly. Half the time or perhaps more often customers cannot understand what they are saying.

"I realize that the art of plainly speaking has long given way to gibberish but if money is being exchanged for services, greater effort should be applied to communicate.

"The public would appreciate this."

Gifted services

“If gifted services are left to the principals at each school then that means they won't be served at all. They have too many groups to serve. They have been asked for years to serve them and they don't. Also, they won't get to go to the Gifted Center at all! My child will hate this!"

EBT ignorance

“Let's help cure some of the ignorance surrounding EBT cards. Foster parents have them, to help feed kids whose parents can't, or won't. Child support payments collected by the state are distributed through them.

"Mentally and physically disabled persons use them. Unemployed persons who have run out of benefits use them. Senior citizens with insufficient SSI benefits use them also. "Judge not, lest ye be judged yourself". Maybe a sensitivity course should have been taken along with those English Literature courses the gentleman is so well versed in."
