Rant and Rave for 11/30/12

— — — —

Warm, fuzzy

“It’s a warm fuzzy comment about ‘over-commercialism’ of Christmas. People refer to that condition each year. Now be realistic. Tell merchants in your town not to promote holiday sales, particularly in a time when the economy is sucking wind. See how many ‘amens’ you get."

About thanks

“What is this world coming to? We have completely lost compassion for one another. We have completely lost the meaning of the holidays. Thanksgiving is about showing/giving thanks and not about finding the best deal on material things. That TV that is on sale will be there tomorrow but can you be sure your family/friends will?"

So much irony

“There’s just so much irony to be witnessed in our society. On the one hand, we hear people talk bad about the commercial attitude around Christmas. Yet that is a factor of capitalism which, if you may have noticed during the election, is right next to godliness. The perceived opposite being communism."

Applause

“I don't know Mr. Psalmond but I commend him. He's brave enough to write letters and sign his name. This is a great country, in spite of our current administration. A country so great it will allow imbeciles to anonymously attack others who publicly state their opinions. God save the country."

We love it

“Coming in to your downtown and walking the many stores and seeing the lights come on makes my holiday season.  We love Moultrie and its stores and events."

The connection

“The Friedlander project was once called “project connection.”  Which would be good to connect all the community’s groups together for a project. Were any organizations and governing bodies connected to the project or still just development authority going it alone?"

You are unique

“Do not forget Moultrie what a great loving downtown community you have during the holidays...we drive from out of town to share in all wonderful events during the holidays.  You are unique."

Like the idea

“I have family members on football teams, in band, and out of town. My kids will enjoy the parade and thanks for working a date that’s worth trying.  Last year it was rough coming back all night after the game for the kids and then marching in the parade.

If the committee doesn’t feel Thursday night is the best performance time and day, then next year something different can be tried.  Those with interest would likely be welcomed to help volunteer on the parade committee and staff."

DNA comment

“Mr. Walden. Good observation about our DNA.

Should the Boy Scouts accept gay members and/or leaders?

No. Homosexuality goes against Scouting's moral foundation.
Allowing youth members is OK, but not leaders.
Yes. Stop discriminating and allow both.
