Rant and Rave for Nov. 22

Food tax

“Why is the food tax not enforced on food stamp users/recipients and all of us who have to pay out of our pockets to eat have to pay the food tax? What does this 3 percent additional pay for anyway? ...Food stamps?"

Lord's will

“So you say Obama won the presidency because of his' skin color? Okay, you have that right, however I believe he won because it was the Good Lord's will. In fact, I even believe other presidents were elected for the same reason.

"Finally, I wish people will just accept that he was elected and pray that this country will prosper, because that is what I feel in the end we all want for our country no matter who is the president."

Sums it up

“Now you try and tell me football is not more important than academics in Moultrie. Football team goes to Atlanta one day earlier. That pretty wells sums up that statement."

Take a stand

“If the American people don't take a stand against the big government we will be overrun by taxes and every one will be in the same boat, sinking."

Misinformation

“The government did not make the recommendations that women should not have a mammogram every year. Please listen or read the information about this correctly. This is how so many people get the wrong information about issues that we have in this country."

About the lies

“Where has the ranter been hiding all these presidential elections. All politics are based on lies. Every president tells lies to get into the office and then does just the opposite of what he said before he is elected.

"President Obama is doing a great job dealing with all the disgruntled people who hate him because of the color of his skin. When will white people get over their fear of people of African descent?"

Booze sales

“Those businesses that are selling alcohol to minors should be ashamed.

"But it would have been nice to know which businesses were selling the alcohol, and those that were doing what they were supposed to regardless of sales.

"Kudos to the people who are doing their jobs."

Pet issues

“I realize the Humane Society debate is important so in no way do I mean to demean that discussion.

"But on a lighter note, when adopting a pet, and please consider doing so when in the market for one, be aware that dogs have owners, cats have staff."

    Dear editor:
Wildlife rehabilitators, or rehabbers as they are known in the animal community, are very special people. They have acquired the knowledge and experience that is needed to work with injured and orphaned wildlife. Licensed by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, and if caring for federally protected species, the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, a wildlife rehabilitator’s ultimate goal is to take an injured or orphaned animal, get it healthy and return it to its natural habitat.

  • Dwain Walden.jpg The sky is falling! The sky is falling!

Remember back in the early sixties when people were digging bomb shelters in fear of the “Big One” being dropped on us? I recall how an alarm would go off at school, and we would get under our desks. What a joke! Get under our desks when one entire wall was glass!

  • Outpouring of love

    Dear editor:
What words can be added to so many that have been said in prayer and praise for our Haley?  We have witnessed an outpouring of love and sacrifice for our families, and we truly cannot express our feelings of humility and gratitude.

  • Were we really shocked by the half-time cheap shot?

There’s an old saying, “Go to bed with dogs, wake up with fleas.”

    Dear editor:
When the Declaration of Independence was signed, we as a Country, The United States of America, were declaring our Freedom and Liberty.

  • What's at stake here?

    Dear editor
It looks like one of my worst fears is about to happen. With President Obama’s withdrawal of all American troops from Iraq it appears the democratic government we set up in Iraq is getting ready to come apart.  The Shiites and Sunnis are at each others throats and the Kurds and Turkey are already shooting at each other. Iran seems to be paused to take up the vacuum we will be left and obtain a nuclear weapon. In 2007 the Democrats were clamoring for President Bush to get our troops out of Iraq.

Yes. It helps voters know where they stand on issues.
