Rants and Raves for November 17

Norman Park

“I agree that they need to get a new chief in Norman Park and let him get some officers that would take the burden off the mayor and city council. Also I hope that they will get a chief that people know from around here. The people here need to support the city council in the tough job they are having to do for no money.

The trial

“President Obama has decided to bring Khalid Sheik Mohammed to NYC for trial. Maybe the members of OJ's murder trial jury are still available to serve. Little Barack has opened Pandora's box once again.

Animal issues

“If the Humane Society is hurting for donations and over crowed then why are they trying to take in more animals. I agree if you can feed and care for your pets why does it really how many you have. Of course if it a health issue I completely understand. I save dogs because I don't believe in killing them solely because someone else didn't want to take care of them. Leave people alone unless they are seriously causing a health problem of the animals are not being properly cared for.

Football parent

“I can’t believe this town is so upset about the football team going on a chartered bus! As a 9th grade football parent, I have seen first hand how the mothers and fathers of the varsity team have worked to sell and give money out of their pockets to help with the success of the program.  Maybe if the band parents and other sports parents work half as hard you would have the same benefits for your child's sport.  Give it a rest!!

Way to go

“To all the Propst bashers : What have you got to say now? How do those words you had to eat taste in your mouth. Way to go coach and Packers.

Stop whining

“The band did take chartered buses to Atlanta today and they had some extra passengers called the cheerleaders. The names of the buses are Go, Mighty, and Packers. I think this shows that these young adults support our football team, so why can't everyone stop all their whining and complaining about things that you obviously know little about and just support all of these young adults.

They all work very hard to entertain us and they don't really care if one group gets more money than the other, In the end they are more than happy to share their buses with their fellow entertainers. It seems that the adults are the ones with the problem not the kids. So I ask, Who is the mature ones here.

Pack is back

“The Pack is back! What a great feeling on Friday nights in Moultrie!

  • We better wake up

    Dear editor:
Have our GOP representatives gone to sleep or are they refusing to act for the people they are supposed to represent? The Obama administration has contracted a Spanish company called SCYTAL, to tabulate the 2012 November presidential election.

  • Dwain Walden.jpg May God bless my Uncle Henry

My uncle once noted on his return from a fishing trip that he caught so many fish he couldn’t put them all in one pile.
That’s how I feel trying to keep up with all the causes and organizations that either require support groups or else they comprise support groups.

  • A kind humanity

    Dear editor:
Humanity. One word. That word can translate into many other words. Some would say humanity is dark, greedy and bent on world domination. Others may say humanity is sweet, kind and caring. I myself witnessed a small part of a loving, caring humanity the other day.

  • Why it's a bad tax

    Dear editor:
In regards to the Transportation TSplost Tax:  The statement, “Economic development suffers if we don’t pass this tax” is not a valid statement, because Georgia has always been behind the 8 ball in regards to transportation, but yet look at the growth we have experienced; being behind in transportation didn't hinder economic growth. Georgia now ranks 11th in the country as of 2010 and this occurred mostly since 1995. The economic vitality of Georgia is alive and well considering the slump the country is in.

  • I am saddened

    Dear editor:
A couple of weeks ago, I attended Field Day at Sunset Elementary where my oldest daughter attends the Pre-K program. I was deeply saddened to hear that Mrs. Vicky Watson will be retiring this year.

If the vote were held today, would you support the Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax?

Yes. We need these projects, and this is the only way we can pay for them.
No. We don't need any more taxes.
