Rants and Raves for November 14

Question

“To the ‘That's Why’ ranter. You are saying that the football players got the chartered buses because they are ‘the football team’. Let me inform you, having a child in band so I can say this, your football player is no better than my child. What kind of reasoning skills are we teaching our children that one is better than the other?

Think long and hard about what you say before you say it, you my friend have done nothing but showed your ignorance.

Give it a chance

“I would encourage anyone watching the police situation in Norman Park to give the City Council a chance to do their job before criticizing anymore.  Just give them a few weeks to do what they were elected to do and keep them in your prayers.  Maybe they’ll show some leadership.

Needs review

“I think the city council needs to sit down and seriously look at how the Humane Society is operated and how they interpret the ordinances.

There shouldn't be a limit to how many pets you can own as long as you are giving proper care and the pets aren't being a nuisance! Many of the people I have spoken with are sick and tired of this agency harassing them about their pets. I would like the council members to schedule a time to hear our concerns and views and talk to the people who have issues with the humane society!

Can't be good

“Knowing politicians and what they do, a 2,000 page health care bill can't possibly be good. You can bet there's something bad hidden in those pages that we won't find out about until it's too late.

Fanatical

“A new truck was given to the football coach? I must sit back and laugh. How fanatical can a town get over football?

Great program

“To the person who complained about the YMCA soccer program.  I think you are totally wrong.  Compared to what we have had in the past, I personally think that our soccer program has improved by 100%.  Coach Mike and Coach Mell have taught my daughter a lot.  I will gladly pay the extra for the type of coaching that we are getting. And for the cancelled practices, the coaches can’t help the weather.

Overkill

“The proposed county sound ordinance looks to me like extreme overkill in reaction to folks that aren't obeying law enforcement. Just enforce the disturbing the peace laws already on the books.

Visitor

“Just visited your community. Love your courthouse.

My friend, a city boy, was yelling for help. We were fishing on a river, and he had ventured over to another spot.
“Someone help! I’m cornered!” he yelled.

  • We better wake up

    Dear editor:
Have our GOP representatives gone to sleep or are they refusing to act for the people they are supposed to represent? The Obama administration has contracted a Spanish company called SCYTAL, to tabulate the 2012 November presidential election.

My uncle once noted on his return from a fishing trip that he caught so many fish he couldn’t put them all in one pile.
That’s how I feel trying to keep up with all the causes and organizations that either require support groups or else they comprise support groups.

  • A kind humanity

    Dear editor:
Humanity. One word. That word can translate into many other words. Some would say humanity is dark, greedy and bent on world domination. Others may say humanity is sweet, kind and caring. I myself witnessed a small part of a loving, caring humanity the other day.

  • Why it's a bad tax

    Dear editor:
In regards to the Transportation TSplost Tax:  The statement, “Economic development suffers if we don’t pass this tax” is not a valid statement, because Georgia has always been behind the 8 ball in regards to transportation, but yet look at the growth we have experienced; being behind in transportation didn't hinder economic growth. Georgia now ranks 11th in the country as of 2010 and this occurred mostly since 1995. The economic vitality of Georgia is alive and well considering the slump the country is in.
