Rant and Rave for Nov. 7

To win war

“To win war, we simply need to quickly and consistently achieve more dead for the dollar than the enemy. We need the mindset Muslims have toward us. Kill Them All (KTA). Or get out of self destructing Muslim countries that's a waste of our dollars."

What a waste

“The Norman Park City Council seems to be of the philosophy that, “we can do anything I want because someone else will overcome our shortcomings.” What a waste.

Congrats!

“Congrats to all the Colquitt County Goat and Lamb Whow contestants!  Ya'll rock! Way to go Lea Barrow on your 1st place showmanship with your goat!"

Impossible?

“Impossible! Yes there is one thing that is impossible. You will never, never, never catch both lights green at 5th Avenue Southeast and 1st and 2nd Streets. They are timed so that if you catch the first light either green or red, you will still stop at the 2nd, every time. Why would you continuously back up traffic rather than let it flow? It's because someone living off taxpayer money just doesn't care."

I like the idea

“I like the idea of setting up stings to catch some of those thieves that are plaguing our community. Hey law enforcement, let’s give a try. What thug could resist a truck full of copper wire and chain saws sitting out there?"

Can't be good

“Knowing politicians and what they do, a 2,000 page health care bill can't possibly be good. You can bet there's something bad hidden in those pages that we won't find out about until it's too late."

Applause

“Congratulations to the 7th grade football team's players and coaches on an undefeated season! My son learned discipline and hard work without having to hear any words of vulgarity. Hopefully other coaches will follow their lead and learn that this can be done successfully."

Meeting

“I would love to see the Norman Park City Council hold a Town Hall Style meeting so the citizens could express their view about losing local law enforcement. I don’t think the City Council wants to hear our opinion, though."

Curious

“I’m curious about something. Is all of the ruckus in Norman Park coming from one or two people or are the stated opinions representative of a large segment of the Norman Park citizenry? Maybe if they wrote letters and signed them we would know."

  • We better wake up

    Dear editor:
Have our GOP representatives gone to sleep or are they refusing to act for the people they are supposed to represent? The Obama administration has contracted a Spanish company called SCYTAL, to tabulate the 2012 November presidential election.

  • Dwain Walden.jpg May God bless my Uncle Henry

My uncle once noted on his return from a fishing trip that he caught so many fish he couldn’t put them all in one pile.
That’s how I feel trying to keep up with all the causes and organizations that either require support groups or else they comprise support groups.

  • A kind humanity

    Dear editor:
Humanity. One word. That word can translate into many other words. Some would say humanity is dark, greedy and bent on world domination. Others may say humanity is sweet, kind and caring. I myself witnessed a small part of a loving, caring humanity the other day.

  • Why it's a bad tax

    Dear editor:
In regards to the Transportation TSplost Tax:  The statement, “Economic development suffers if we don’t pass this tax” is not a valid statement, because Georgia has always been behind the 8 ball in regards to transportation, but yet look at the growth we have experienced; being behind in transportation didn't hinder economic growth. Georgia now ranks 11th in the country as of 2010 and this occurred mostly since 1995. The economic vitality of Georgia is alive and well considering the slump the country is in.

  • I am saddened

    Dear editor:
A couple of weeks ago, I attended Field Day at Sunset Elementary where my oldest daughter attends the Pre-K program. I was deeply saddened to hear that Mrs. Vicky Watson will be retiring this year.

Poll

If the vote were held today, would you support the Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax?

Yes. We need these projects, and this is the only way we can pay for them.
No. We don't need any more taxes.
No. The process is undemocratic and wrong.
