Rant and Rave for Nov. 7

To win war

“To win war, we simply need to quickly and consistently achieve more dead for the dollar than the enemy. We need the mindset Muslims have toward us. Kill Them All (KTA). Or get out of self destructing Muslim countries that's a waste of our dollars."

What a waste

“The Norman Park City Council seems to be of the philosophy that, “we can do anything I want because someone else will overcome our shortcomings.” What a waste.

Congrats!

“Congrats to all the Colquitt County Goat and Lamb Whow contestants!  Ya'll rock! Way to go Lea Barrow on your 1st place showmanship with your goat!"

Impossible?

“Impossible! Yes there is one thing that is impossible. You will never, never, never catch both lights green at 5th Avenue Southeast and 1st and 2nd Streets. They are timed so that if you catch the first light either green or red, you will still stop at the 2nd, every time. Why would you continuously back up traffic rather than let it flow? It's because someone living off taxpayer money just doesn't care."

I like the idea

“I like the idea of setting up stings to catch some of those thieves that are plaguing our community. Hey law enforcement, let’s give a try. What thug could resist a truck full of copper wire and chain saws sitting out there?"

Can't be good

“Knowing politicians and what they do, a 2,000 page health care bill can't possibly be good. You can bet there's something bad hidden in those pages that we won't find out about until it's too late."

Applause

“Congratulations to the 7th grade football team's players and coaches on an undefeated season! My son learned discipline and hard work without having to hear any words of vulgarity. Hopefully other coaches will follow their lead and learn that this can be done successfully."

Meeting

“I would love to see the Norman Park City Council hold a Town Hall Style meeting so the citizens could express their view about losing local law enforcement. I don’t think the City Council wants to hear our opinion, though."

Curious

“I’m curious about something. Is all of the ruckus in Norman Park coming from one or two people or are the stated opinions representative of a large segment of the Norman Park citizenry? Maybe if they wrote letters and signed them we would know."

  • 'No' to incumbents

    Dear editor:
Joe Biden came to Cowtown (Ft. Worth) to raise funds for his boss Obama. Picked up $125,000 from some "Fat Cat" liberals, part of the millionaire's raising Obama's teleprompter fund to over $225 million.

  • Feds can't fix it

    Dear editor:
Ten years ago, the federal government, Republicans and Democrats, passed the “No Child Left Behind” program. This program was billed as a fix-all for our education system. Now, 10 years later, the same people label the program a failure.

  • Dwain Walden.jpg Cotton and philosophy on the roadside

One can go to a very expensive college and pay a bundle of money taking philosophy classes, or he can just keep his eyes open and be alert to his surroundings and collect quite an array of thought provoking ideas.

  • Will it happen here?

    Dear editor:
When America was young, a famous political philosopher from France visited our country to try to find out the secret of her greatness. (Yes, America was great. She supplied many other nations with money, just as she’s still doing today — nations who hate us and are slowly taking over our country).

  • Exclamation point

Again a bill is being pushed in Congress that specifically will say that lawmakers may not do trading based on non-public information obtained in office.

  • Something's wrong

    Dear editor:
The Colquitt County Middle School’s athletic program is nepotistic and political.

Poll

Should candidates for county positions have to run for a party's nomination?

No. Political parties are meaningless at this level.
Yes. It helps voters know where they stand on issues.
With all the problems the state's facing, this is a non-issue.
