I've seen it
“Yes indeed, much of the thefts going on here are to finance drug habits. I’ve seen it firsthand. My family has experienced it. But I’m like the earlier ranter. With all that’s being stolen, it has to be fenced somewhere and it must be immediate because a drug addict has to have his fix right away.
In response
“Mr. Leigh, you are right about treating symptoms instead of the disease when it comes to welfare and living off entitlements. Unfortunately, these habits have been cycling so long, it’s like trying to load a landslide onto a Tonka truck. Or turning a stampede by waving a handkerchief. We have a monster and it will take many generations to bring it under control even if we had the will power.
Road checks
“To address crime in Moultrie, let’s have have regular undercover roadside checks. The law-abiding citizens will appreciate that little inconvenience. Farmers used to do this when they looked through a barrel of apples to remove the bad ones.
No well spent
“I just drove down Cox Dairy Road and McGinty Road. They just scraped it yesterday and it’s actually worse today. That’s not money well spent.
A link
“There’s a certain apartment complex in Moultrie that is connected to much of the thefts and drug trade here. A little old-fashioned surveillance and patrols could hinder these going on.
Great sight
“It’s great to see the Rich Oil sign up on the new building out at the old Rich Oil intersection. That area was legend for many of us. Maybe we should get traffic lights there to help the safety factor.
A suggestion
“Let me offer a suggestion. Fill up a flatbed truck with chain saws, copper wire, a few lawn mowers, some irrigation pipe, etc. and park it out off the road somewhere. When the thugs come to steal it, let them unload just one piece and grab them and stash them away in a van. Put that one piece back on the truck and wait for the next thugs ... and there will be more. You could do this all night. Use cameras to document. Well, better get a bus. A van won’t hold them.
Pythons
“Mr. Walden, great column about the pythons. I don’t think they can make this far north. Food supply and temperature should keep them in South Florida.
The wars
“Twenty years from now we will still be talking about what we should do in Afghanistan and Iraq. When people can make money of war, it continues.
