Rants and Raves for Nov 4

Good idea

“It’s great that the county is considering a noise ordinance. I don’t mind a low level of music being played. I just don’t want my windows rattling or my sleep interrupted. Good move.

Disaster

“I, too, am concerned about a health care bill that is 2000 pages. As far as I’m concerned, this is a disaster in the making.

In response

“Mr. Walden’s head is not in the sand. In regard to Halloween, he stated what many of us feel. It’s just a day in the fall when our kids have a little safe fun. It’s only pagan if you believe in paganism and practice it with such philosophy applied.

My system, too

“To the person who said he is prepared for a home invasion with Winchester and Remington, that’s also my feeling, except mine system uses Mossberg and Smith and Wesson.

Gangs or not

“So do we have gangs operating here or don’t we. We keep hearing conflicting reports on this issue. However, it really doesn’t matter. Cars and house being shot and homes being invaded (whatever the colors the intruders fly under) is the same. Thugs are thugs.

Hurrah!

“Hurrah for the man who caught the burglar and held him at gunpoint. It’s going to take more of this to stem the tide of thefts and lawlessness that we as a community are experiencing.

Not an answer

“Today I heard someone say that the answer to Iraq, Iran and Afghanistan is to “nuke” them. That’s a ridiculous comment that if not feasible or humane. The answer, in my opinion, is to bring our troops home, protect our borders with a great tenacity and let the other countries fight it out among themselves. I’m tired of the lives and money we sacrifice in this countries who have been fighting among themselves since the Old Testament.

Which one?

“I see we had very little interest in local politics this election. Is that because we are happy with the present crew or are we just complacent and apathetic toward the process?

Applause

“Yep, whether we win or lose Friday playing Northside, we’ve had a great football season. Applause to the players and the coaches.

Noise

“Can we get more enforcement of the laws that prohibit loud music coming from cars?

  • We better wake up

    Dear editor:
Have our GOP representatives gone to sleep or are they refusing to act for the people they are supposed to represent? The Obama administration has contracted a Spanish company called SCYTAL, to tabulate the 2012 November presidential election.

  • Dwain Walden.jpg May God bless my Uncle Henry

My uncle once noted on his return from a fishing trip that he caught so many fish he couldn’t put them all in one pile.
That’s how I feel trying to keep up with all the causes and organizations that either require support groups or else they comprise support groups.

  • A kind humanity

    Dear editor:
Humanity. One word. That word can translate into many other words. Some would say humanity is dark, greedy and bent on world domination. Others may say humanity is sweet, kind and caring. I myself witnessed a small part of a loving, caring humanity the other day.

  • Why it's a bad tax

    Dear editor:
In regards to the Transportation TSplost Tax:  The statement, “Economic development suffers if we don’t pass this tax” is not a valid statement, because Georgia has always been behind the 8 ball in regards to transportation, but yet look at the growth we have experienced; being behind in transportation didn't hinder economic growth. Georgia now ranks 11th in the country as of 2010 and this occurred mostly since 1995. The economic vitality of Georgia is alive and well considering the slump the country is in.

  • I am saddened

    Dear editor:
A couple of weeks ago, I attended Field Day at Sunset Elementary where my oldest daughter attends the Pre-K program. I was deeply saddened to hear that Mrs. Vicky Watson will be retiring this year.
