I agree
“I appreciate Mr. Walden’s column about Halloween. I have been a Christian since I was a young child. I think sometimes we invent problems. For Heaven’s sake, we’ve got enough dominant issues to deal with without getting way out there on a limb and creating more. I agree, Halloween is about kids having fun. It is up to us enlightened adults to guide them in those pursuits.
Pagan basis
“Mr. Walden, how can you reject the basis upon which Halloween is founded? Do you have your head stuck in the sand? It’s a pagan issue, clear and simple.
Impressed
“I, too, have been watching the traffic issue at the new 4-way stop on Adel Highway. And I’m impressed that motorists do seem to be courteous at this intersection. I see it as a sign of improvement in humanity. Maybe I’m overstating the concept of ‘small steps,’ but I’ll take progress anywhere I can get it.
Applause
“I applaud the county commission for considering some efforts to control noise. It really ticks me off when I’m at an intersection and there’s a car next to me rattling my windows with their stereo. I have no problem with what kind of music they listen to, but it’s much like religion, I don’t someone else’s version imposed upon me. I will not impose mine upon them.
Nightmare
“So the new health bill that’s being proposed is 2,000 pages long. My gosh is that going to be a nightmare. Consider that the First and Second Amendments to our Constitution are only a few lines long and consider the debate that has arisen from those.
Confusion
“A 2,000-page health care bill? Get real. That will only create more bureaucracy. I must note the confusion for the elderly when the Medicare changes were put in place. But not just the elderly, I had trouble interpreting it for my mama.
Well stated
“Mr. Walden, the editorial about ‘we are the government’ was well stated. It’s time that an educated public got more involved and demanded results --- party affiliations be damned. In fact, let’s not consider it a ‘party’ anymore. Let’s consider it serious business.
Great season
“We’ve made the playoffs in 5A. We’ve come a long way in a short while. At 8-1, we’ve had a great season already and a chance to be even greater. Thanks to the coaching staff and the Pack supporters. Maybe we can get past the self-righteous era and the naysaying. We can see great seasons ahead. Those don’t happen by accident folks.
