Applause
“Congratulations to CCHS Golfer Daniel Chafin and to Elizabeth Funderburk on you Red Hills Junior Tour Points Championships.
Soccer
“I would like to see the recreation department add a soccer program. The YMCA program has fallen. Parents are asked to pay excessive amounts for a bigger, better program, which has become no more than canceled practices that are not rescheduled, missed games and no added coaching. Why the extra expense? To have a better uniform?
The children are not learning anything more than they would have without the additional expense. I think parents should be credited for next season in order to make up for this season and all its short comings!
Not safe
“Highway 319 in Norman Park is not safe anymore for those children who walk to school and have to cross the highway.
With no local officers, traffic is going way to fast. The City Council is wrong for not having officers on duty.
Property thefts
“ I would like to know what local law enforcement plans to do about all these property thefts taking place in our county? The citizens are getting tired of being victimized.
Right direction
“Personally I don't care what color uniforms the football team wears or what letters or words are on their helmets.
With a new staff comes new changes, and maybe a fresh start if what we need. It seems to me coach Prospt has the team headed in the right direction, winning not losing.
Only when called
“Those who stick their head in the sand and claim the sheriff’s deputies are the same as local police in Norman Park should remember: deputies are not in town except when called. Local officers are on duty most of the time – if the City Council does its job.
Prime example
“ The government’s botched delivery of the swine flu vaccine is a classic indicator of a far greater problem, especially in times of crisis, when even small amounts of health care delivery are critical to millions of people, you cannot trust this government to do anything correctly.
Guard shack
“So we get this great new guard shack to help protect our children at the high school, but I have one important question, why is it not in use after 2:45 when classes don't end until 3:20?
Who is guarding our kids from 2:45 until 3:20, isn't this time just as important as the rest of the day?

We better wake up
Dear editor:
Have our GOP representatives gone to sleep or are they refusing to act for the people they are supposed to represent? The Obama administration has contracted a Spanish company called SCYTAL, to tabulate the 2012 November presidential election. - Rant and Rave for 5/26/12

May God bless my Uncle Henry
My uncle once noted on his return from a fishing trip that he caught so many fish he couldn’t put them all in one pile.
That’s how I feel trying to keep up with all the causes and organizations that either require support groups or else they comprise support groups. -
A kind humanity
Dear editor:
Humanity. One word. That word can translate into many other words. Some would say humanity is dark, greedy and bent on world domination. Others may say humanity is sweet, kind and caring. I myself witnessed a small part of a loving, caring humanity the other day. - Rant and Rave for 5/24/12

Why it's a bad tax
Dear editor:
In regards to the Transportation TSplost Tax: The statement, “Economic development suffers if we don’t pass this tax” is not a valid statement, because Georgia has always been behind the 8 ball in regards to transportation, but yet look at the growth we have experienced; being behind in transportation didn't hinder economic growth. Georgia now ranks 11th in the country as of 2010 and this occurred mostly since 1995. The economic vitality of Georgia is alive and well considering the slump the country is in. - Rant and Rave for 5/23/12

I am saddened
Dear editor:
A couple of weeks ago, I attended Field Day at Sunset Elementary where my oldest daughter attends the Pre-K program. I was deeply saddened to hear that Mrs. Vicky Watson will be retiring this year. - More Opinion Headlines
