Rants and Raves for July 23

The Moultrie Observer

| — Kids behavior

“Mr. Walden, I want to add to your column about buffet line protocol. It has to do with restaurants in general.

Parents, please be in charge of your kids in restaurants. Yes, we know they are cute. Letting them run around inside the restaurant and making a lot of noise is not a good thing.

We didn’t come there to watch your kids.

And if we see this a lot, we will go somewhere else which is not fair to the restaurant owner either.

Good point

“Right on! We can send soldiers to die for democracy (or so we claim that’s the reason) but so many of our people won’t get up off their duffs to go vote. Thanks for putting this into perspective. A 20 percent turnout of registered voters is not just an embarrassment, it’s an insult to the very men and women who serve our country and especially to those who have given the supreme sacrifice.

Chain gangs

“Are you are referring to chain gangs as them doing something besides sitting in air conditioning, playing cards, and eating 3 free meals a day, huh? It would be their choice and obviously get paid, to pay back what they have stolen, or fines. They already repair roads what is the difference in picking fields and farming?

Prisoners

“If they are prisoners then its a way to help the farmers and cut down on all the illegals who over here now. I get tired hearing about slavery under a different name.

If you committed a crime and go to prison for it, then you have no say so about what will be doing. Please stop the nonsense and know you have a choice, and if you give your freedom up, then working on a farm is not slavery but working for a good cost.

 Period. Nothing more.

Dirt track

“My family and I really enjoyed the practice round at the Needmore racetrack this past weekend. I have been to several other tracks, and it is the best dirt track I've seen. I'm looking forward to some really good racing!

Frustration

“Volunteer fire reports are so hard to get. Every time I call the office I get a recording so I tried going buy their office and there was no one there.

It wasn't during lunch, it was around 9 a.m. so I came back around 3 p.m. the same day and still no one was there. I tried again the next day and still no luck. I really needed the fire report for my insurance. On the third day I finally found someone there and I asked the lady if she only worked part time and she told me  she works Monday through Friday 8-4. I find this frustrating.
