Rant and Rave for 01/19/13

MOULTRIE — Drunk driving

“Whether it’s MADD or someone else, something needs to be done about the drunk driving of illegals and particularly the uninsured, unlicensed drivers. There needs to be attention given to this problem. At one time it was indicated the grand jury was going to look into this but I guess too many influential people who depend on the illegal work force had their way."

Maybe it was me

“My grandmother gets food stamps, not many, but I am the person that goes to the store for her and I have to use my money to supplement her because she only get $20.00 a month and yes I drive a Cadillac. So maybe that was me."

No accountability

“This was overheard in a local store: Two women were asking how each other was doing. One told the other one that her family was doing okay. She said they used her husband’s money from his job to pay the rent. And they used her money from her part-time job to buy their dope. She had just bought groceries with an EBT. This is sad, very sad. We have no accountability attached to our programs."

Pet projects

“Congress cannot support the Sandy Relief Bill because of the billions for pet projects of states that are nowhere near the storm area. Those projects are embedded in the bill to take advantage of taxpayers. It is dishonest to claim Sandy victims are receiving that money when they're not. Shame on those Senators that wrote that bill in such a way."

Something better

“Wrong. Christians handing out Bibles are doing what the word of God says to do. Spread the gospel and make disciples of all nations. Now, can you come up with something better?"

Gun laws

“Just read the proposed gun control regulations. There was nothing about people knocking on our doors and taking away our guns as many would have you believe. Yes, a ban on assault weapons is there. I have no problem with that. I don’t need one. Most of the stuff had to do with background checks, school security, limiting the capacity of magazines, and mental health analyses. We can still go squirrel hunting and protect our homes. The sky is not falling. John Wayne will not turn over in his grave."

In response

“I'm reading the Rants about the child who received a Bible from school and to tell you the truth, all I'm seeing is ‘what I believe for my child’, and ‘the religion that I want for my child’. What/who does your child believe in?

"What type of religion does your child choose to follow?

"Have you talked with your child about what the child wants to believe in. Last I heard, freedom of religion is still one of the rights we have as Americans even though GOD has been taken out of schools."

Should the Boy Scouts accept gay members and/or leaders?

No. Homosexuality goes against Scouting's moral foundation.
Allowing youth members is OK, but not leaders.
