Among the victims

MOULTRIE — Dear editor:

Monday, July 26, started out like any other day. I locked my doors and headed off to do my daily routine. Upon retuning I unlocked my door and headed to the back of my house realizing that the farther I walked the odder I felt.

The bathroom door was shut and the bed that I had made up so neatly was disturbed. A drawer was pulled partially out. It hit me,  someone has been in my house!

I called my husband, and we quickly started thinking of things people take and then it was true. We had been robbed!

My husband’s gun collection ... his treasured guns from his father, our pistols, and last but not least, my jewelry. And not just any jewelry, two pieces that I cherish dearly, an "S" style gold tennis bracelet and a gold and saffire ring with diamonds. So if you see it turn it in, it belongs to me and has very deep sentimental value. We are just among the hundreds of people being violated.

My bathroom was used, my bed touched by strangers and our life , like others, changed forever.

However, you were seen, your green Nissan Altima pulling away as your trunk bounced open, and maybe you will be found. No more will I think to myself when I see a car on the side of the road that someone is hurt.  I as others will think of the worst, but I will still say a prayer for the person in the car, because you will need it. Your soul is lost.

You can do all of the right things, lock your door, alarm your door, hide your jewelry and lock away your things, but if they want to come into your home, they are, and it will only take a few minutes. TV educated us all for the good and the bad. The jails are full and the law is slippery. Please, if you get anything offered to you especially my bracelet or ring, call and turn it in, if you are offered a gun, rifle or shotgun, turn it in. These firearms were family owned and cherished with memories of love and years of devotion. Our country needs help and our families have lost the meaning of respect.

To anyone interested in coming back to this neighborhood, we are licensed to carry a gun. We practice all the time. You were lucky this time.

  • Dwain Walden.jpg Life is a matter of perspectives; think about it

My friend, a city boy, was yelling for help. We were fishing on a river, and he had ventured over to another spot.
“Someone help! I’m cornered!” he yelled.

  • We better wake up

    Dear editor:
Have our GOP representatives gone to sleep or are they refusing to act for the people they are supposed to represent? The Obama administration has contracted a Spanish company called SCYTAL, to tabulate the 2012 November presidential election.

My uncle once noted on his return from a fishing trip that he caught so many fish he couldn’t put them all in one pile.
That’s how I feel trying to keep up with all the causes and organizations that either require support groups or else they comprise support groups.

  • A kind humanity

    Dear editor:
Humanity. One word. That word can translate into many other words. Some would say humanity is dark, greedy and bent on world domination. Others may say humanity is sweet, kind and caring. I myself witnessed a small part of a loving, caring humanity the other day.

  • Why it's a bad tax

    Dear editor:
In regards to the Transportation TSplost Tax:  The statement, “Economic development suffers if we don’t pass this tax” is not a valid statement, because Georgia has always been behind the 8 ball in regards to transportation, but yet look at the growth we have experienced; being behind in transportation didn't hinder economic growth. Georgia now ranks 11th in the country as of 2010 and this occurred mostly since 1995. The economic vitality of Georgia is alive and well considering the slump the country is in.
