Rant and Rave for 12/14/12

MOULTRIE — Thanks, Santa

“My grandson went to see Santa at the Moultrie Observer and is still excited about it! Thanks Santa for what you do for the children of this county. As I understand it, Santa was also in the armed forces as a Seabee. Thanks also, Santa, for your service to our country. You are an inspiration!"

Traffic issues

“What does common courtesy, using turn signals, proper left turning and following the laws of the road and drivers in and around Moultrie have in common? The answer is: absolutely nothing. If 85% of the drivers here had to retake a drivers test, they would not pass it. It gets worse when the weather does. Of course, law enforcement is exempt from these laws it seems; speeding, talking on cell phones, etc.Your life or mine may be at risk. Get some realization and wake up."

Great job

“Thank you to the C.A. Gray band for your great show at the Sale City Christmas parade!  You helped make a warm December night feel more like Christmas."

Gifted issue

“I am so tired of people ranting about charter schools and Gifted programs. My child has been in accelerated classes since she started school. She has been in the top 5% all along and works hard at her school work,so dont hate on her for being in the top 5% and please keep the race cards to yourselves..your children’s scores are a reflection of you whatever race you are."

100 years

“2013 will be 100 years of Packer football, 25 years as Coach Probst being a head coach and the 50th Anniversary of the 1963 Packer football team.

"To top off the 2013 celebration, I would like to see the Packers win the region and state."

A suggestion

“The solution is not removing the serious students. The discipline problems need to be removed. There are many ‘on the border’ students who become ‘non-serious’ because of the influence of the discipline problems. If we remove the serious students from school with a magnet program, who will serve as the model in school? Create a magnet school that serves as an alternative education program to help those troubled students and you will better serve all!"

Don't get down

“Moultrie is a great town to live in and I enjoy it immensely. We have wonderful, kind residents and a beautiful downtown. The trick to living in Moultrie is to not let all these lawbreakers who are having their names and crimes printed in the paper to bring you down."

In response

“To the person wanting restrooms near the walking trail. If we had restrooms out there it would be less than a week before some punk destroyed it. Just look at the crime report in the paper."
