MOULTRIE —
Dog rules
“We need better dog regulations in Colquitt County. Commissioners, please do something! Must someone be savagely mauled to put regulations in place as Dougherty County did?
"My neighbor has a large fenced backyard, yet every day several times a day, she opens her front door and let her two dogs out to run rampant in the neighborhood. Her comment when asked to come and call her dog was, ‘I don’t care where they go’. Why should we pay taxes if we do not have a right to our own property?"
Their targets
“Do you ever think about the two main goals of the Republican party? Lower taxes for the wealthy and spending cuts primarily effecting the poor. I never get tired of their whining about poor people who only make a quarter of a million dollars a year and how they would get the ‘vapors" if they paid a dime more.
And how about those cuts they're so worried about? Next time you get a chance, ask one of them exactly what are they intending to cut. Chances are you'll get nothing but ‘crickets’. That’s their dirty little secret. Medicare, Social Security and Medicaid, that’s their targets. But you'll never get them to admit it."
Gun sales
“I saw the guns and knives for sale by the city. I don't see anything wrong. They are only going to sale to a dealer. That means to buy them you have to go through legal channels. If you don't want your local hoodlums and thugs to have guns then teach them better or punish them for their crimes."
Animal restroom?
“It’s time for the City of Moultrie to stop people from using the downtown area around the courthouse as a restroom for animals. This must be stopped. People cannot enjoy the courthouse lawn anymore because of fecal matter and the bushes in front of businesses smell like dog urine."
Poor example
“Mr. Obama & Family make the personal choice to travel to Hawaii several times a year. There is no reason except they want to go, and the cost is not a factor that they consider(about anything). People who support Obama are showing how confused they are when they make these lame excuses for his irresponsible behavior."
Our choices
“How about a ‘none of the above’ vote? I'm tired of voting for the lesser of two evils."
War mentality
“You know we keep ignoring the big gorilla in the room ... foreign wars. In the very big picture they cost us billions of dollars and loss of precious lives. We fight in countries that are tribal and will never embrace real democracy. The cost of these wars is not just the immediate guns and ammo. Just think of the medical care that such events require for many years to come. It seems we have a war mentality."

Great performance
Dear Editor,
You don't have to live in New York, Paris or London to experience world-class cultural events. You can do that right here in Moultrie, Georgia. - Rant and Rave for 05/22/13

Tribute to my dad
Dear editor:
Growing up in South Georgia every little girl thinks of their daddy as their prince; I am no different. And I believe his years of sacrifice, dedication and unconditional love for me is a story worth telling. - Rant and Rave for 05/21/13

Oh joy! The Turtle Man will return
Great news! The Turtle Man is coming back for another season on television!
And yes, I’m being a little facetious here. It’s a ridiculous show, but apparently it’s entertainment for some people. -
The kind of stuff that happens in dictatorships
Distrust of government secrecy has been elevated to an exceptional level with the disclosure the Justice Department covertly examined two months of Associated Press phone records to determine who leaked details to the AP about a foiled terrorist plot.

And would you like fries with that?
Most of us have seen the Chick-fil-A signs that urge us to “eat more chicken.” So would you ever expect to see one that says, “eat more crickets?”
