Rant and Rave for 12/27/12

MOULTRIE — Wonders

“Oh my gosh, Michael Barrone has written a column that slaps the GOP a little bit. Will wonders never cease!"

You are right

“You are absolutely right. Ban 30-round clips for assault rifles and the geniuses will just get them two 15-round clips."

Applause

“Thanks to those uplifting stories on the front page about Haley’s recovery and all those people who prayed for her. Also thanks for the story on the Food Bank and the other charitable activities of our community. Good news!"

Many thanks

“When I got home from church Sunday night, someone had delivered 2 big Christmas packages full of groceries. I don't know who is responsible so I hope you are reading this. Your act of kindness and generosity is overwhelming. I thank God for his blessings and using special people like you. May God richly bless you and yours. Thank you so much."

Simple solution

“There's a simple solution to stopping most of the DUI's. Do what Arizona did awhile back. It's now mandatory in that state that you spend 10 days in jail on the first offense. Theirs has decreased by 50%, so it has worked.

"There's an awful lot of DUI's in Colquitt Co., mostly it looks like by illegal immigrants (no drivers license) so is it going to take someone getting killed before the people get mad and demand this from the legislators? Be proactive."

Common sense

“It's common sense, folks. If you don't want to get scammed by mail fraud or e-mail fraud a good rule of thumb is ‘If you did nothing to earn it, it isn't real.’ Most people griping about being scammed should have checked their greed at the inbox and they wouldn't be in this situation."

Evading taxes

“If the IRS would collect all the back taxes owed to the government they would not need to raise anybodys taxes. The paper stated that 99 employees at the White House had not paid their taxes. We all need to write Sen. Saxby and Sen. Johnny and tell them we expect them to get behind this and get these taxes collected  and all the other people that do not pay their taxes. In Canada, if you do not pay your taxes they take everything you own so people up there pay their taxes on time. The USA needs to do the same thing."

Good idea

“I read the story in the paper about campaign tracking and some lawmakers are not happy with the fact that professional trackers monitor them and their activities. My thought is, if you have nothing to hide then you shouldn’t worry."

Touched

“I was touched by the letter from the woman who had passed through our town and praised our square."
