Rants and Raves for March 26

Ball fields

“Thanks Terry Peek, the ball fields look better than they ever have.

Clean it up

“I’m a lifelong citizen of Berlin. I have never seen our town in this kind of shape. Junk cars and trailers everywhere. When Dale Williams was eleced mayor, he said he was going to clean the city up. He and others just cover up the junk now. Come on Dale, let’s clean our city of these eyesores.

Rove told him

“Karl Rove must have told Saxby that Max Cleland was playing with the grenade that took his three limbs.

Beautiful

“Take a tour through Moultrie and enjoy God’s creations. The dogwoods and azaleas are gorgeous.

What I saw

“I just watched a well-dressed middle age woman put 50 cents in the Moultrie Observer box. She went through the papers taking out what she wanted and through the rest away. She then drove away in her nice car. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing.

Not Bush

“Bush didn't ruin social security a democrat did. Social Security money was set aside in a separate account in the beginning, but a Democrat President changed all that and allowed it to be used for government spending. The problem now as they spend more then comes in so that is why social security funds are in danger.

Thanks

“We were in Moultrie this past weekend to watch our Devils play against the Packers (Middle School Soccer). I want to say thank you to those men who worked the concession stand. All of them were very nice and went out of their way to serve great food with a smile. Thank you!

Entertaining

“The ad from the Tifton doctor who wants the Blue Devils’ name changed was rather entertaining. Not all of us hear and see Satanic messages just because there is a moniker of ‘devil’ attached in some way. Loosen your shorts fellow. This name has been around for a while and you won’t change it.

Combat view

“You have to understand that for a Republican to recognize a Democrat soldier and his contributions to combat, the soldier has to be charging a bunker with a machine gun in each hand, a bayonet in his teeth and a wounded soldier across his soldiers. That’s how the Republicans see it .... on television, or from a bar in Alabama.

  • Dwain Walden.jpg Life is a matter of perspectives; think about it

My friend, a city boy, was yelling for help. We were fishing on a river, and he had ventured over to another spot.
“Someone help! I’m cornered!” he yelled.

  • We better wake up

    Dear editor:
Have our GOP representatives gone to sleep or are they refusing to act for the people they are supposed to represent? The Obama administration has contracted a Spanish company called SCYTAL, to tabulate the 2012 November presidential election.

My uncle once noted on his return from a fishing trip that he caught so many fish he couldn’t put them all in one pile.
That’s how I feel trying to keep up with all the causes and organizations that either require support groups or else they comprise support groups.

  • A kind humanity

    Dear editor:
Humanity. One word. That word can translate into many other words. Some would say humanity is dark, greedy and bent on world domination. Others may say humanity is sweet, kind and caring. I myself witnessed a small part of a loving, caring humanity the other day.

  • Why it's a bad tax

    Dear editor:
In regards to the Transportation TSplost Tax:  The statement, “Economic development suffers if we don’t pass this tax” is not a valid statement, because Georgia has always been behind the 8 ball in regards to transportation, but yet look at the growth we have experienced; being behind in transportation didn't hinder economic growth. Georgia now ranks 11th in the country as of 2010 and this occurred mostly since 1995. The economic vitality of Georgia is alive and well considering the slump the country is in.
