Sanford Roscoe Davis

NORMAN PARK — Sanford Roscoe Davis, 80, of Norman Park died Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 8, at Pineview Baptist Church with the Rev. Stanley Norman officiating, assisted by the Rev. Lenon Howell, the Rev. James Sellers and Daniel Asbell. Interment will follow at Pineview Cemetery. Heath Wetherington, Jake Mobley, Blake Gay, John McCloud, Lance Murphy and Marty Johnson will serve as casketbearers. Deacons of Pineview Baptist Church and grandchildren of Mr. Davis will serve as honorary casketbearers.

Born Jan. 21, 1930, in Mitchell County, Mr. Davis was the son of the late George Washington Davis and the late Rosie Beth Kearce Davis Sellers. He was a retired meat cutter and was a member of Pineview Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Verna Jean Davis; two brothers, Lanford Davis and H.D. Sellers; and two sisters, Wilma Newsome and Matrah Weeks.

Survivors include his wife, Annette Hathcock Davis; two stepsons, Tim Hathcock and wife Dede of Sylvester and Dale Hathcock and wife Lisa of Leesburg; three daughters, Gail Boyette and husband James of Thomasville, Jeanine Weatherington and husband Duane of Lenox and Tammy Hall and husband John of Moultrie; a stepdaughter, Martha Hathcock Davis and husband Buck of Sylvester; two brothers, the Rev. James Sellers and wife Juanita and Hayward Sellers, all of Moultrie; four sisters, Nadine “Betty” Lamb and husband Gene of Norman Park, Ellen Carlton and husband Curtis of Albany and Nadine Bryant and Erma Jean Sheffield, both of Moultrie; nine grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one stepgreat-grandchild.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Baker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
