Jestina Hayes Blount

MOULTRIE — Jestina Hayes Blount, 59, of Moultrie, died Saturday, May 8, 2010, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 13, at Lifespring Community Church with the Rev. Vincent H. Joyce officiating, the Rev. Julian Griner as pastor, and the Rev. Corey McGhee assisting. Burial will follow in the St. James Pallbearer Cemetery No. 2. Family and friends will serve as active pallbearers.

She was born on Nov. 20, 1950, in Doerun, to the late Eddie Hayes and the late Leoma Hayes Carr.

She was a faithful member of First African Baptist Church, under the leadership of the Rev. Willie Love. She was employed with Miller Brewing for 13 years and the Colquitt County Sheriff’s Department for seven years.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, Verdell Blount Jr. of Moultrie; two daughters, Kutina McCloud and husband Purvis and Kayla Blount, both of Moultrie; three brothers, Melvin Harris and wife Catherine of North Carolina, Herman Hayes and wife Shirlene of Berlin, and Elsworth Hayes of Doerun; one sister, Millie Sue Brooks of Doerun; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family will receive friends at the home of Purvis and Kutina McCloud located at 145 Peach Lane.
