Floyd Monroe Strickland

MOULTRIE — Floyd Monroe Strickland, 75, of Moultrie died Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10, at Cobb Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Mark Jordan officiating. Interment will follow in Cobb Suncrest Memorial Gardens. Casketbearers will be Eddie Autrey, Dennis Autrey, Randy Terry, Vince McKenzie, Rusty Terry and Eric Sellers.

Born March 11, 1934, in Doerun, Mr. Strickland was the son of the late George Thomas Strickland and Annie Mae Henderson Strickland. He was a retired engineer with Destiny Mobile Homes and attended Riverside Holiness Church.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Tom Strickland, Lubbie Strickland and Jerry Strickland; and six sisters, Elizabeth McKenzie, Mary Jean Young, Sara McDaniel, Jewell Hurst, Maudie Mary Miller and Ruth Whittle.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Helen Sellers Strickland of Moultrie; two daughters, Karen Bennett and husband Jerry and Pattie Lee and husband Michael, all of Moultrie; five grandchildren, Amanda Bennett, Ethan Carlton and Andrew Carlton, all of Moultrie, and Gavin Lee and Jon William Lee, both of Leesburg; one brother, Charlie Joe Strickland and wife Betty of Havana, Fla.; and one sister, Margie Autrey of Meigs.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Cobb Funeral Chapel.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Cobb Funeral Chapel.
