Nell Grace Freeman DeLoach

HINESVILLE, Ga. — Nell Grace Freeman DeLoach, 88, of Hinesville, Ga., died Thursday, March 19, 2009, at the Liberty Regional Medical Center in Hinesville, after a lengthy illness.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 22, in Pine Grove Baptist Church in Coolidge, Ga., with the Rev. Stanley Norman officiating. Interment will follow in the Big Ochlocknee Cemetery. Her nephews will serve as pallbearers.

She was born on Aug. 2, 1920, in Colquitt County to the late Thomas Alvin Bryant and the late Lucy Fenn. She was a homemaker, served in the Army Air Corps as a nurse during World War II, and was a retired nurse anesthetist at Archbold and Phoebe Putney hospitals.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Clyde Elkin Freeman; her second husband, I.J. DeLoach; and a son, Robert Elkin Freeman.

She is survived by two daughters, Linda F. Ratcliffe and Diane F. Kennard, both of Hinesville, Ga.; a son-in-law; three grandsons; two granddaughters; a grandson-in-law; a granddaughter-in-law; five great-grandchildren; four sisters, Leila Pilkinton of Thomasville, Ga., Dorothy Johnston of Albany, Ga., Opal Tillman of Coolidge, Ga., and Frances Hicks of Thomasville, Ga.; a stepson and his family; and multiple nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be today, March 21, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family is requesting that donations be submitted to the Georgia Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, 1925 Century Blvd. N.E. Ste. 10, Atlanta, Ga. 30345 or to the Big Ochlocknee Cemetery Trust Fund.

Lovein Funeral Home in Nashville, Ga., is in charge of arrangements.
