Louise Mauldin Underwood

SOCIAL CIRCLE, Ga. — Louise Mauldin Underwood, 99, of Social Circle, formerly of Anderson City, died Aug. 31, 2010.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 4, at Kimball United Methodist Church with interment to follow in Kimball Cemetery.

She was born on Sept. 21, 1910, in the Minton (now Anderson City) community of Worth County. She was the daughter of the late James Hamilton and Mittie Lasseter Mauldin; and the youngest of eight siblings. She was a graduate of Georgia State College for Women (now Georgia College and State University). She was a teacher for many years in Worth and Colquitt counties at Sylvester Elementary and Okapilco Elementary Schools.

She was also a lifelong member of Kimball United Methodist Church and was an avid gardener who enjoyed working in her yard until the age of 96.

She is survived by her son, Warren Underwood and his wife Donna of Social Circle, Ga.; four grandchildren, Jennifer Patil and her husband Raghu of Social Circle, Ga., Amanda Underwood of Fayetteville, Ga., Victoria Saxon and her husband Austin of Fayetteville, Ga., and Geoffrey Underwood of Fayetteville, Ga.; and two great-grandchildren, Madeline and Caroline Patil.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon B. Underwood, on April 18, 1994.

 The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1 p.m. until service hour at the church.
