Versa Louise Lawson McEver

MOULTRIE — Versa Louise Lawson McEver, 84, of Moultrie, died Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010, at Heritage Healthcare at Sunrise.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 5, at Rose of Sharon Baptist Church with the Rev. Ray Jenkins and the Rev. John McEver officiating.  Interment will follow in Rose of Sharon Cemetery.

Born Aug. 1, 1926, in Moultrie, she was the daughter of the late Lewis Lawson and Rosalie Mullis Lawson. She was the retired owner of McEver Income Tax Service and was a member of Rose of Sharon Baptist Church. She was the manager of the Mill Creek Voting District for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George David McEver Sr.; one sister, Lillian Lawson Faison; and two brothers, one in infancy and Lester Lawson.

Survivors include two sons, David McEver of Houston, Texas and Larry McEver and wife Mary of Fairburn, Ga.; two daughters, Mary Whitfield and husband George of Moultrie and Vera McEver Reasons and husband Rick of Griffin, Ga.; eight grandchildren, Georgina McEver Harris, Keli Martinez, Audrey Whitfield Hughes, Ed Whitfield, Anna Whitfield, James McEver, John McEver and Jason McEver; and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., today, Sept. 4, at Cobb Funeral Chapel.

The family may be contacted at the home of George and Mary Whitfield, 284 Whitfield Road in Moultrie.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Cobb Funeral Chapel.
