Avery Henley Elkins, 98, of Moultrie, died Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012, at Agape Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 12, at Cobb Funeral Chapel with the Rev. James “Shot” Sellers officiating. Interment will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 14, in Sapa Cemetery in Eupora, Miss.
Born May 22, 1913, in Eupora, Miss., she was the daughter of the late Claud Henley and Linnie Sealey Henley. She was a retired seamstress with Riverside Manufacturing Co. and was a charter member of East Side Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Brown Elkins; one son, Kenneth Elkins; eight brothers; two sisters; and one grandchild, Gina Elkins.
Survivors include two sons, Tommy Earl Elkins and wife Katy of Cocoa, Fla., and Billy Wayne Elkins of Moultrie; one sister, Mary Davis of Brandon, Miss.; five grandchildren, Tommy Lynn Elkins, Kay Wall, Kent Elkins, Amy Griffin and Susan Corley; 13 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service, on Sunday, at Cobb
