NORMAN PARK —
A Norman Park family had a drive ruined by an apparently intoxicated driver who crashed into their car at an intersection on Wednesday.
Jamie Barnes of the 400 block of Yogi Bear Road reported that while stopped at 10:30 p.m. on Bear Creek Road at the intersection with U.S. Highway 319, a relative’s Buick Lucerne that he was driving was struck by a Buick Regal that was traveling too fast while turning onto Bear Creek Road.
The driver of the Regal, who smelled of alcohol, got out and argued with Barnes before driving away. Barnes followed and got a tag number and reported the address on Bear Creek Boulevard where the driver stopped.
When a deputy went to that address, a man said that his friend “Roscoe” from New York had taken the car without permission, returned and thrown the keys at him and left, sheriff’s reports said. The man, who smelled strongly of alcohol, could not give a last name for his friend.
When the deputy had the occupants of the Lucerne look at the man, they could not positively identify him as the driver, sheriff’s reports said, so no charges were filed in the case.

An officer tried to explain that they needed to leave the business, but the officer could not make them understand and noted that they seemed to be confused.
