BERLIN — A Norman Park man had a gun pulled on him after giving another man a ride from Morven Thursday morning.
A Colquitt County sheriff’s deputy was called to Wesley Chapel Road in Berlin at 10:17 a.m. Thursday about the incident. The deputy spoke with Victor Roberts, who stated he saw a male acquaintance at the Dollar General in Morven and offered to give him a ride.
Shortly after leaving the store, the acquaintance pulled out a handgun and put it to the side of Roberts’ head. The man demanded money from Roberts and told him to drive wherever the acquaintance wanted him to go.
After driving for a while, the gunman told Roberts to turn down a road and park his Chevrolet Tahoe in an area with planted pine trees. Roberts stated he thought the gunman was going to shoot him there, but the man got out of the vehicle and ran into the woods. Roberts thought he heard a gunshot go off shortly after the man fled.
Roberts got to Wesley Chapel Road and flagged down a witness, who reported the incident to the Colquitt County E-911 Center. Berlin police first met with Roberts, and deputies from Colquitt and Brooks counties also arrived at the scene. A search was done of the area with officers and a K-9 unit, but the gunman was not located.
Roberts told the deputy the acquaintance was a black male and was last seen wearing a black hoodie and jeans.
