Evan Miller was pronounced dead at Colquitt Regional Medical Center at about 2:23 p.m., Coroner Verlyn Brock said. The cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head.

The Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office did not release any information on the incident on Monday.

Medical and law enforcement personnel were dispatched at about 2 p.m. to a residence in the 400 block of Lee Lewis Road.

Initial reports indicated that a 16-year-old boy was shot in the head at the residence.

The fatality apparently was a self-inflicted gunshot wound, Brock said.

The death was the third Colquitt County resident to die of gunshot wounds in a little more than a week, coming on the heels of the death of Darrell Dewayne Ward, 42, and 27-year-old Anthony Tyshaun Keith on Thursday.

Ward was found dead in Tift County along with Shirley Ann Peters, 53, and James Williams Peters Sr., 57. They were fatally shot in the Peters’ 103 Iniss Road residence, where Ward is believed to have fatally shot them and then himself.

Thursday night, Keith was found fatally wounded near Woodmen of the World Park in the 300 block of Fifth Street Southwest. The GBI also is investigating that fatality.
