A Moultrie man was injured after being hit by a car while riding his bicycle through an intersection Sunday afternoon.
A Moultrie police officer was called to the Fourth Avenue Southwest and Seventh Street Southwest intersection at 2:04 p.m. Sunday. The officer spoke with Sam Edwards, of 430 Seventh St. S.W., who stated he was riding his bicycle on Seventh Street Southwest.
As he rode into the intersection with Fourth Avenue Southwest, a Jeep Liberty, driven by Daniel Jackson, of 167 Church St. in Funston, entered the intersection while on Fourth Avenue Southwest. Jackson stated the bicycle crossed in front of him, and he could not avoid a collision. Edwards stated he pulled out in front of the Jeep, police reports said.
Edwards complained of pain in his leg, and he was taken to Colquitt Regional Medical Center by Colquitt County EMS. A hospital spokesperson said he was treated for his injuries and released Sunday. Jackson did not complain of any injuries from the collision.
The officer noted a stop sign is posted at the intersection for those on Seventh Street Southwest, and Edwards ran the stop sign when entering the intersection, the report said. Although Edwards was the at-fault person, neither driver was cited or charged in the collision.
