MOULTRIE — A Moultrie man reported he was robbed at gunpoint as he spoke on his cell phone Thursday night.
Juan Salas told a Colquitt County sheriff’s deputy he was riding with a friend when he got into a conversation with another person on his cell phone. Salas asked the friend to pull over so he could continue the conversation, and he was dropped off at the Edwards Street and Overlook Drive intersection about 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
Shortly after the friend drove away, Salas stated a black Jeep Cherokee pulled up and two people wearing all black clothing and ski masks got out. The two men pulled out handguns and pointed them at Salas, demanding all his money and the cell phone, while he spoke on the phone.
Salas told the deputy he gave the two robbers the cell phone and about $150 cash before they got back into the Cherokee and left the scene. The value of the stolen items was about $450, and Salas called 911 from the friend’s phone after being picked up. He could not give additional information on the robbers because it was night at the time of the incident.
