Watch Night
Outreach Family Worship Center will hold its annual watch night service at 9:30 p.m. Thursday with the Rev. Thomas Sims of Changing a Generation Full Gospel Church in Atlanta presiding. Breakfast will be served after the service. Outreach pastor is Bishop Johnny L. Ward.

Ione Freewill Baptist Church, located off of Tallokas Road near Pavo, will have its Watch Night service on Thursday, Dec. 31, starting at 8 p.m. Heaven Sound of Valdosta will be the featured group. At 10 p.m., they will break for a late supper and then resume services.

The Second District Union Annual Watch Night Service will be held Thursday, Dec. 31, starting at 9 p.m., at Sinner Friend Baptist Church. Breakfast will be served. The Rev. W.B. Sales is pastor, the Rev. James E. McBurrows is the chairman and the Rev. Henry Mathis is the vice chairman.
City of Norman Park Called Meeting
There will be a called council meeting for the City of Norman Park today, Dec. 30, at 5 p.m., at city hall. On the agenda for the evening will be adopting the amended 2009 general budget and adopting a proposed 2010 water/sewer budget.

Wayne Littles: From Moultrie to the moon shot … and beyond
The year J. Wayne Littles graduated from Moultrie High School — 1957 — Russia launched the world’s first man-made satellite, Sputnik 1. The Space Race was on, and America was losing.
Five years later, with a mechanical engineering degree from Georgia Tech in his hand, Littles joined the competition. Over the next half-century, the Moultrie native helped the United States put a man on the moon, develop a reusable space shuttle and establish a space station.
“I got into the program very early,” Littles recalled. “It was a very exciting time.” -
