Suspect may face more theft charges

MOULTRIE — A Colquitt County man charged Tuesday with burglary is a suspect in as many as five thefts, a Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office spokesman said.

Ronnie Ledale Livingston, 39, 115 Garden Lane Apt. 2, is accused of entering a neighbor’s home and taking jewelry. He also is a suspect in thefts at residences on Georgia Highway 37 West and Bass Road.

Horacio Ladema, also of the 100 block of Garden Lane, reported Tuesday that his wife’s gold chain was stolen. On the same day Brittney Ennis, 2700 block Highway 37 West, reported that a Sony LCD television and a 27-inch flat-panel television were stolen.

Some of the stolen jewelry was recovered at local pawn shops and at Livingston’s residence, sheriff’s Investigator David Corona said. Livingston confessed to three of the burglaries, authorities said.

“A lot of it’s cosmetic jewelry,” Corona said. “We’ve recovered a lot of the jewelry, most of the jewelry from the (Highway) 37 one, Bass Road. He had pawned it. That’s how we could trace it to him.”

In a Jan. 28 report, The Observer said Ronald Craig Bass, 50, 4411 Dunn Road, Hartsfield, was charged Jan. 26 with driving under the influence, open container violation and probation violation in connection with a minor wreck on Camilla Highway. Excluding the probation violation charge, that information came from a Moultrie police report of a November 2001 incident.
