MOULTRIE — At its meeting Tuesday, the Moultrie City Council decided to allow a social entertainment establishment and a game room to be brought to Moultrie. They also heard from a concerned citizen regarding cleaning up areas around his house and his business.
Among the items discussed by the council were:
• Tabling a public hearing and consideration for an application from Manjulaben D. Patel for an alcoholic beverage license to sell beer for off premises consumption at Krishna Krupa Enterprises LLC., dba Quik Mart #24, located at 503 W. Central Ave. The application was held because Patel was not in attendance at the meeting.
• Approving an application from Alberta Richardson for a Special Use Permit to allow a social entertainment establishment for the community and to allow membership of veterans and other organizations a facility to engage in other civic and social duties at 813 12th St. N.W. The motion was tabled at the Nov. 3 Meeting.
• Approving an application from Willie F. Taylor and Angelia T. Taylor for a game room business license/occupational tax for the Fifth Avenue Gameroom, located at 13 Fifth Ave. N.E.
• Hearing from Sam Parikh, representing Amal Nikal Corp., regarding the city installing pipes near his home and near the Moultrie Inn on First Avenue Southeast. Mayor Bill McIntosh told Parikh the city will look at the problems with him and see what needs to be done.
• Entering into a contract with Random Designs for remodeling the Utility Department Building and approving the contract subject to review and approval by the city attorney.
• Awarding a bid to Yancey’s Fence Co., for a fencing project at Utility Department Building.
• Appointing Brenda S. Ellison to City Clerk and Ella Fast to Assistant City Clerk, and
• Approving a quit claim deed to give property back to homeowners near a railroad spur currently owned by the city.
