Jury convicts Moultrian of selling cocaine

MOULTRIE — The conviction Thursday of a Moultrie man on cocaine charges wrapped up criminal court proceedings for the month.

BryKece Q. Suggs, 20, was found guilty by a Superior Court jury on a charge of sale of cocaine.

A pre-sentencing investigation has been set prior to sentencing, which is scheduled for Dec. 8.

In other court proceedings, a man accused of shooting a former girlfriend’s brother was sentenced to a total of 10 years after pleading guilty to two counts of aggravated assault.

Lavosky Hopkins, 21, was accused of the April 11, 2008, shooting of Cecil White. According to the Moultrie Police Department, Hopkins ran into White after Hopkins and White’s sister broke off their relationship. Hopkins shot White in the leg with a .380-caliber weapon after White told him to leave his sister alone, police said.

Hopkins was sentenced to two five-year sentences to be served consecutively.

In other sentences:

• Larry Joe Fannin, 31, forgery in the first degree; three years’ prison, four years’ probation, $2,000 fine, pay restitution to victims totaling $1,546.

• Robert Milton Thompson, disorderly conduct; 12 months’ probation; criminal trespass; 12 months’ probation to run concurrent with the first sentence.

• Brenda L. Perales, five counts of theft by taking; five years’ probation, pay restitution to be determined by her probation officer.

• Yvonne Neal, 24, six counts financial transaction card fraud; six years’ probation, $1,000 fine, pay restitution totaling $3,416, 40 weekends in jail, no contact with victims.

• Tonya Nicole Fielder, 24, hindering the apprehension or punishment of a criminal; 12 months probation, $750 fine.

• Michael Gerard Hudson, attempted burglary; 280 to 365 days’ Department of Corrections detention center, seven years’ probation, $1,500 fine.

• Apondrea Coneil Marshall Jr., 20, attempted burglary; four years’ prison.

• Milo Simpson, 15; robbery by force; five years’ prison, five years’ probation.

• Tekoy I. Hutto, 16, robbery by force; 180 to 365 days’ detention center, seven years’ probation, $1,000 fine.

• Nigel A’Kese Murray, 15, robbery by force; 180 to 365 days’ detention center, seven years’ probation, $1,000 fine.
