Teen shot with BB gun

Staff Reports

MOULTRIE — A teenager reported she was shot in the foot with a BB gun early Thursday morning.

A Colquitt County sheriff’s deputy was called to Colquitt Regional Medical Center on South Main Street at 3:17 a.m. Thursday about the shooting. The deputy spoke with the 16-year-old girl, who stated she had been shot in the foot by an unknown person at an unknown location.

The girl told the deputy she was sitting in a chair in the house’s yard between 2:30 a.m. and 3 a.m. Thursday while a group of boy were playing with a BB gun. Not knowing the gun was loaded, one of the boys fired a pellet that hit the girl in the foot near her ankle.

The girl’s grandmother told the deputy she had not spoken to the girl since 3 p.m. Tuesday, but she knew the girl was with friends. A female acquaintance took the girl the Colquitt Regional for treatment of the injury.
