Pastor starts TV network, seeks actors for movie

MOULTRIE — A Moultrie pastor says God laid on her heart to start a television network. Although Pastor Margie Jordan had limited movie experience, she found a way to make that happen, through the internet TV system Roku.

Now, Jordan’s branching out with her first movie, “Why Do the Righteous Suffer?”

A casting call for the movie will begin at noon Saturday at Through the Veil Church of God on Highway 37 East (a mile behind Home Depot). Jordan said she’s looking for 12 significant roles — men, women and children — and a number of extras. Children should be 8-15 years old; adult roles range from 18 years old up.

The film tells about a pastor who loses everything after becoming a believer in Jesus Christ, but in the end is rewarded. Jordan said it’s her own story.

“I literally had to give up my home to save my church,” Jordan said.

The story is meant to inspire believers to hold on through the tough times, she said.

“I see so many people going through so much these days,” she said, “and they don’t have the faith to hold on. … A lot of people can’t endure the suffering when you become a believer.”

Jordan’s prior entertainment experience was as an extra in the feature film, “What to Expect when You’re Expecting,” which filmed in Atlanta and starred Cameron Diaz.

Jordan also has written a book, “Search Your Heart,” which is available on Amazon.com and at Barnes and Noble, and she publishes a gospel magazine. The idea for a television network came to her in September of last year.

“To develop your own network it takes time, patience, endurance and money,” she said. “… I can’t give myself credit because I prayed about it.”

The Kingdom Connection network is available on Roku, which offers myriad networks from small endeavors like Jordan’s up to Netflix and Hulu. Some cable systems offer it too; learn more at www.roku.com.
