MOULTRIE —
Colquitt Regional Medical Foundation celebrated the spirit of the season with the 18th annual lighting of the Love Light Christmas tree in the Love Light Garden at the hospital.
Each year the community makes donations to the Love Light campaign in honor or in memory of loved ones. Funds raised are used to benefit the Children’s Fund, which focuses on the needs of obstetric, nursery and pediatric services at Colquitt Regional. The Children’s Fund has been used in the past to purchase baby warmers, bili-blankets, car seats, pediatric blood pressure monitors, scales and educational material for new moms.
This year the entertainment was provided by the First United Methodist Church Children’s Tone Chime Choir, led by Lynn Pritchett. The choir performed several Christmas songs. Moultrie Junior Woman’s Club provided cookies for everyone attending.
A pediatric patient is chosen each year to light the tree. Jake Baker was this year’s tree lighter. Santa Claus made a guest appearance and helped Jake light the tree.
“It is great to see children from our community come together to celebrate this magical time of year,” said Jim Matney, president and CEO of Colquitt Regional. “The Children’s Fund at Colquitt Regional Medical Center means so much to our obstetric, nursery and pediatric departments. It means better equipment and more technology in these areas. It means better overall healthcare for our newborns and pediatric patients in Colquitt County and the surrounding areas.”
Donations can still be made campaign. The list of Love Light honor and memorials will run in The Moultrie Observer each week through Christmas Day and will air on CNS cable on Christmas Day. Call the Foundation at 890-3415 for more details.
